Day Out at the Foodies Festival Cannon Hill Park | Birmingham

July 7, 2017

The other weekend a good friend and I headed to Foodies Festival in Cannon Hill Park. Having managed to miss opportunities to go for the last couple of years I was excited to finally get there!

Foodies Festival is a celebration of, you guessed it, all things foodie! There are chefs showing off their skills on the stage (we kinda missed this bit!), loads of food to try and buy, drinks and just a generally relaxed vibe.

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Plantation Run

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Mai Tai

After a very quick wander round the site, we settled on starting off the way any Saturday should… With a cocktail! The guys at Plantation Rum had the most amazing tiki bar, it was evident they’d be our first stop. I picked a Mai Tai, made with their rum and this amazing Pineapple Stiggles. I need to try and find this. My friend opted for a Pina Colada, purely because it came served in a pineapple and she believes all cocktails should be served this way!

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Big Dub Burger

We wandered round some more, trying a few samples here and there. Chatted to stall holders about their foodie offerings and purchased a few things. Then it was time for lunch in the Street Food area. My friend making a b-line for the Big Dub of Love and their Big Dub Burger. I opted for a Spicy Mac n Cheese from the guys at I <3 Mac N Cheese. The burger was incredible, I loved the squid ink brioche, it really worked. The mac n cheese was rich, creamy and had a wonderful kick. I was ever so happy with my choice!

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Cotswolds Gin

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Pimms

After our very tasty but filling lunch (not pictured because I forgot we’re loads of fries and halluomi bites too!) We did some more wandering around, heading to the guys at Cotswolds Gin for a chat about their gin, distillery tours and also to purchase some of their amazing gin. As Dr W couldn’t join us I decided to get this for him, it’s a favourite of his so he was very happy. I also got him a Cotswolds Gin glass to add to our collection.

Foodies Festival Birmingham - Crepes

After a while, I’m not sure how, but we were hungry again. This time opting for crepes, I had a Cheeky Monkey, Nutella and banana. Yummy! The perfect end to our day out at the Foodies Festival. If you fancy going along, the Foodies Festival still has a few more dates on the calendar this summer, so be sure to check them out. It’s a very fun day, a word of warning though, turn up with an empty stomach. You will want to eat EVERYTHING!

Have you been to a Foodies Festival? What would you like to check out? Let me know in the comments,

I don’t go to Birmingham quite enough! Maybe I should go sometime just to check out their food scene!

The Tatton Park one is on this weekend – most of the stalls are travelling food stalls with a few local ones mixed in!

The Foodie Festival seems packed with yummy stuff. It is bigger than I though, from your pictures.

It was actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I hear the ones in London and Tatton Park are even bigger!
