Quick Eats at Crepeaffaire Birmingham | Review

January 10, 2018

Just before Christmas I madly chose to do a bit of Christmas shopping in Brum after work. Whilst there I grabbed a quick dinner at Crepeaffaire with a friend, this was just what we needed to have a break from the crowds!

Because it was dinner time, my friend and I chose to try out the savoury crepes at Crepeaffaire. Now here’s the thing, my friend isn’t the biggest fan of savoury crepes. Where as I’m the kind of person that has a round of savoury before sweet on pancake day. So could I and Crepeaffaire convince her when it comes to savoury crepes?

If you’ve not been to Crepeaffaire before, basically you go up to the counter and pick your crepe. The menu has set crepes, but you can also make your own. Then you can take a seat and they bring you your crepe when cooked or, if like the mad food blogger I am, you can watch them curate the crepes! Not only do they make crepes, you can order milkshakes too, but neither of us fancied them on the evening we went. I’ll have to check them out next time, they looked quite popular!

Mexican Chicken Crepe at Crepeaffaire

Mexican Chicken

For my dinner I ordered the Mexican Chicken Crepe. This was filled with pulled chicken, grains, pulses, rice, sour cream, cheese, salsa and chillies. For me the crepe was not spicy enough (I am a bit of a demon when it comes to spice these days!) However, it was still very tasty and filled with plenty of melty, gooey cheese! Because it had grains and rice in it, I found it very filling and it kept me going for the rest of the shopping trip.

Chicken Supreme Crepe at Crepeaffaire

Chicken Supreme

My friend picked the Chicken Supreme Crepe. This was also filled with Tasty pulled chicken. But this time it had BBQ sauce, mushrooms, spinach, tomato and plenty of cheese in it. I think I slightly preferred the BBQ chicken in this one, to the Mexican one, but both crepes were tasty. I did ask if my friend was convinced on savoury pancakes… But it turns out she’d still order sweet over savoury any day! However, I am still firmly in the cheesy crepe camp!

Are you a savoury crepe fan? Or do you prefer sweet? Have you checked out Crepeaffaire? Let me know in the comments,

ooh they have one of these by my office in Cardiff but I’ve never been. I loved the Breton Galette I had on holiday in France – perfect with savoury and caramel flavours. I’ll have have to pop in to my local.

I do love a savoury crepe – last Pancake Day we did two courses – one with a chicken, bacon, mushroom and cream filling, folded and then topped with cheese and baked until crispy. It was delish!
