I love it when a plan comes together and this one did. An email popped into my inbox from Grosvenor Casino, offering me a VIP experience at their Broad Street Casino. A few emails later and I’d rallied my favourite Brum Blogger Babes together for a night of fun with them.
The casino is in the heart of the hubbub of Broad Street. Somewhere I’d normally avoid but I’m up for an adventure. Grosvenor Casino is a great place to head to play Roulette, Blackjack and Poker. But the casino has a hidden secret that more people should realise. The casino offers a well priced dining experience in it’s cosy restaurant that can be found across the huge playing area. So huge you can’t really tell how big it is from the outside. Think TARDIS!
On arrival we were greeted by our delightful host, Mark. Who immediately helped us feel at home and also immediately offered me gin – winning! I was quite happy to see some great gins on offer at the casino, not just the usual pub faves. Mark our host has worked at the casino for over 20 years and you can really tell his passion for the hospitality trade. He gave us a fab run through of the various menus, including the set menu. At £10.29 for two courses or £12.95 for three courses during the week, it’s a popular choice.
We started off with a tray of bread, dipping oil and olives. Perfect with my gin and the other’s wine, they had picked a delicious Malbec. We got to chat and catch up whilst nibbling, always good. Then our starters came. I ordered the Tempura Prawns which were served with a sweet chilli sauce. It was quite a basic starter, it’s clear that it’s probably not home made. But it was tasty all the same and the prawns weren’t over cooked (always a fear).
For my main I went with something simple and comforting. It was totally worth it! The Epic Fish Finger Sandwich, with cod goujons, tartare sauce and chips. It was absolutely huge. It did need me to take it apart with cutlery, but it was seriously tasty and I quite liked the use of the brioche bun with the fish. The others all opted for healthy dishes, but I’m terrible and always end up picking the naughty option!
When reviewing it can be difficult to judge if wonderful service is just for us. But looking around watching watching Mark chat away to other customers (and clearly regulars) it’s obvious he is very good at providing customer service. The food was good and the service was impeccable. Everyone really enjoyed our visit, especially the low down of how to play roulette. Although that could have been more dangerous if it was with real money!
Have you checked out the Broad Street Grosvenor Casino before? Would you head out for a girly night here? Let me know in the comments,
P.S. We were invited down for VIP taster of Grosvenor Casino, but I honestly think you’d get treated very well on your visit too. As ever all words, photos and opinions are my own.
P.P.S. Grosvenor Casino is located at Fiveways Leisure Complex, Broad St, Birmingham B15 1AY.
