A Day in London

May 12, 2015

After an amazing evening on the Thames I made plans to go into town again on the Saturday, not one to waste time in bed (even though I was hungover), I wanted a day in London before going back up north.

I made plans to meet Charlie after lunch, but stupidly the day before I forgot to buy food (my aunt and uncle were away so the fridge was bare). This made my getting up easier, despite the fact I was hungover.

I got ready and headed in to Soho, I was after tea and I’d heard awesome things about Yumchaa. Now I had my free day in London I had to go. I might’ve been dull with my tea picking, English breakfast all the way, but I needed it for the hangover. I also had a posh cheese toastie and a slice of delicious lemon drizzle cake to accompany my brew.

Eventually I felt human so I took a stroll to the British Museum. I’m slightly obsessed with the Egyptians so I had to go. I spent quite a while wandering through the exhibit, I find their beliefs fascinating, especially surrounding their gods and death. I sent a horrific snap chat to Charlie of a mummy explaining it was me after the night before! Haha!

Eventually Charlie dragged herself into town and we met on Oxford St to do some shopping. Despite a few crowds, it was a bit later on so it was better crowd-wise than I expected. What made it easier was the tea and cupcake break in the park, where I also managed to get an outfit pic of me including my new bag that Charlie made me buy… Yes made me… Ahem (maybe not). The outfit I wore isn’t so special but the bag is beautiful, you can get it at Accessorize. It’s got enough shine to brighten up any old outfit and the size is perfect for a notebook hoarder like me.

On a whim before heading home we decided that we would head to the new Lush on Oxford St. Both avid fans, we just had to go to our Mecca… Let’s just say an hour and a half still wasn’t enough to see everything. I went mad for The Comforter shower gel and the Jungle conditioner bar. If my suitcase hadn’t have been so tiny there would’ve been more purchases from the 256 Oxford St only items!!!

Have you had a day in London recently? Have you checked out the new Lush yet? Let me know in the comments,

I LOVE having London days – despite being in London 24/7 I am in and out due to work and spend time either at work or commuting to and from (Not fun at rush hour on the underground!). On the odd days that I have off I tend to take a stroll down the South Bank, head to Starbucks for morning coffee before hitting the strip, have a little nose around the Tate for anything interesting (not a lot!) and then either catch a tube or walk to St Katharine’s Dock for lunch. It is so beautiful there and watching the sunset by Tower Bridge is just stunning!

On the odd shopping day I love Oxford St for the shops as well as Carnaby St but the crowds really do have me preferring the tranquil parks and walks through London.

The one thing that I reckon is missing is a London blogger meet – I think I might put one together – you in?!

It’s like this with me too. I rarely go into Manchester these days! So it’s a novelty when I do, same goes for London. I love hiding in suburbia! Do let me know if you organise a meet and I’ll see if I can make it down x

I haven’t been to London in ages! I’ve never been for a proper visit, it’s always a stopover for the coach home to Belgium. Maybe it’s time to take a long weekend away to London!

    Mmm lemon drizzle cake!

OMG you need to sort it out πŸ˜€ I do love visiting it so much, it’s still not as awesome as Manchester though πŸ˜‰

I refuse to take responsibility for your bag purchase. I merely suggested it would be a good idea and that you might regret not buying it…
