Winter Skin Care Saviours | Salcura Giveaway!

November 27, 2015

If you follow me on Twitter you probably know about my struggles with eczema. Well alas, it gets no better in winter, if not worse! But there a few things I’ve found recently that have helped my skin so I thought I’d share my winter skin care saviours with you today.

I use a combination of moisturisers and face washes to help my skin stay relatively normal during winter, I find my eczema to get way more sensitive in these cold months. This winter I have been trying Salcura Bioskin* and Merumaya Everything Everywhere Beauty Oil* in combination with St Ives face and body scrub.

Salcura have a two step system for their products. The number 1 indicates daily and the 2 is for the extra bad days. I have the daily Salcura Derma Spray which is a great alternative to an emollient, which I find make my eczema worse as they are heavy and don’t allow my skin to breathe. This isn’t great as I have a blistering form of eczema and it can actually lead to more blisters! So this light spray (impossible to take a photo of what it looks like on your skin) is fab, it soaks in well and leaves very little residue. So when I’m having a very dry day, as after the blisters comes cracked skin and also the joys of winter being very drying for skin (especially with my walk to/from work) I use the Salcura Zeoderm extra cream. This is quite a thick cream, so I used quite a thin layer. It’s supposed to be an alternative to steroids, sadly my eczema is still quite bad so I feel I need my Betnovate still, but I apply the Zeoderm at night to help moisturise my skin more deeply. My eczema is mainly on my hands so I couple using it with gloves too, but these products can be used anywhere on the body, they are also free of the typical nasties- parabens, SLS and lanolin, perfect for those with very sensitive skin too!

I walk every day too and from the tram stop, this is about 20 minutes and all kinds of weather hits me in the process, which can make my face quite dry. I have recently started using the Merumaya Everything Everywhere Beauty Oil* which is designed to help hydrate the skin as well as improving elasticity and radiance. I have found that I am getting less puffy under my eyes and it really helps after using make up remover, as I find no matter what they dry my skin out! The best bit is, you only need a small drop to cover the face. The best thing again, is this product can be used anywhere, so if you’re having a dry scalp day you can leave it on overnight and wash out!

No matter what with these products I still get some stubborn dry skin, so once a week I use St Ives Apricot Sensitive Skin Scrub on my face, it’s not too harsh and doesn’t cause me any irritation, I will use beauty oil after though. The St Ives Body Scrub is useful for post shaving, pre full body moisturising too.

Overall the combination of these products has really helped my skin, but I’m also very impressed with the Salcura products, I would’ve done before/after pics but I find my eczema quite embarrassing, so I didn’t want to do that, although you can see a patch of it on the picture above and that is much better compared to what it normally looks like!

So luckily for you, I have arranged a give away with the wonderful team at Salcura for you to win some of their products that will save your skin this winter. These are great if you have any skin complaints or very dry skin or just want amazingly smooth skin. For my skin coconut oil, but I use loads of lip balm, and if I have an area of particularly dry skin I use lip balm on that too 🙂

My saviour is a good moisturiser, lip balm and nivea – I love Nivea Creme for my lips when I’m at home, it feels lovely and soaks in and soothes them when they get dry and cracked.

Even though I have oily skin I still hydrate my face during the winter. I love using my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, it works wonders for me. It moisturises my skin beautifully & I like to use it on a daily basis however, I tend to use more of it during the Winter.
