Manchester has been chosen to host an exciting new 10k Winter Run in February which will give everybody the chance to race through a snow-zone and hug polar bears, while raising money for Cancer Research UK.
The Manchester Winter Run will take place on closed roads past the Etihad Stadium. The course will be filled with some never seen before winter surprises that will entertain runners before, during and after their run. There will be Snow-Zones and Polar Bear Hugs to be joined by yet to be announced zones.
The Winter Run aims to help motivate us to train through the winter months and help kick off those healthy New Year’s resolutions with a bang. I’m taking part as it’s perfect training for my spring marathon plans (Wilmslow in April) but organisers also claim that the race makes the ideal first time goal for everyone who’s just discovering running.
Healthy lifestyles really do have an impact on cancer, I currently work with a research group who are investigating cancer risk reduction as a result of a healthy lifestyle. As many people use the winter weather and Christmas break as an excuse to give fitness the cold shoulder and stop running when the temperature drops, Cancer Research UK and the Winter Run Manchester aim to keep you inspired to start the year right and live well too. Also who doesn’t want to run a race that involves polar bear hugs and a medal that looks as pretty as it does?!
The Winter Run Series will be taking place in Manchester on Sunday 28th February with details of the route to be released soon. Entries are open, visit www.winterrunseries.co.uk for more information and of course entry.
Would you do a fun run like this? Are you training for anything (big or small) next year? Let me know in the comments,
P.S. Post in collaboration with the Human Race.
