5 Happy Things #15

November 22, 2016

How has another fortnight passed by? Here I am with another of my 5 Happy Things, which seems quite important lately given the news and world events of late.

I must admit I love Katy’s Happy Monday posts and these are part of the inspiration for mine. I think it’s important that we remind ourselves of those happier moments, no matter how small. I’m also quite enjoying the #TodayImGrateful hashtag on Twitter.

#1- Lyme Tree House

Last week I headed to River Cottage, I stayed in a wonderful B&B for an evening. Lyme Tree House on the outskirts of Axminster was comfortable, affordable and the breakfast was delicious. The B&B was really convenient for River Cottage and being a bit out from the town it was so quiet and relaxing. I really enjoyed my stay and will be going back with Mr W as we want to explore that area a bit more!

#2- Ruby Tandoh’s Potato Wedges

I treated myself to Ruby Tandoh’s book a few months ago but hadn’t gotten round using it. So I broke it out to make these wonderful potato wedges. A dead simple recipe and it made the fluffiest wedges with a perfectly crispy coating. I’m going to try different seasonings next time.

#3- Maggi Instant Noodles

I got these in last month’s Degustabox and they were so so tasty! A bit posher than your average quick and easy noodles to make, they come with several seasoning sachets and vegetables. These were my saviour at lunch time when I was off sick, super tasty and super easy!

#4- Autumnal Hiking

Last weekend Mr W and I headed up the Malverns for  good old hike. We walked about 14km and then came home for a roast dinner. We’re currently aiming to hike every other weekend, with a run on the opposite weekends. This is the aim for keeping fit for our winter hiking holiday in February next year.

#5- Cocktails with Fentimans

The other week Fentimans sent me a collection of their wonderful new mixers range. I’m currently trying to develop a few cocktails so I can share these with you in a post before Christmas. But here’s a spoiler, my Winter Berry Fizz was quite a hit with Mr W! I can’t wait to share my other ideas with you, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

What’s been making you happy lately? Let me know in the comments,

I’ve been a bit lazy/busy/tired/etc and blogging has been sparse. The cocktails post will go up this week 🙂

Aw I love that Maggi instant noodles have made it here! They were like literally my lunch most days when I went to uni!

River cottage was wonderful 🙂 I’ve been poorly again though, so running has been off the cards again. Sigh!
