5 Happy Things #21

March 22, 2017

Oooh it’s been a while since one of my happy posts has gone live hasn’t it?! Work has been manic and weekend plans have gotten in the way of penning these posts.

It’s a little bit sad because I love writing these posts. It’s great to try and focus on good things when you’re so busy and over whelmed like I recently have been. So what’s been making me happy lately….

Happy Things - Hand Made Fair Preview

#1- The Handmade Fair Preview

The other week I was invited along to the Handmade Fair Preview* for their Ragley Hall fair. The preview event was at the museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The perfect setting for such an event really! We got to get crafting on the evening, doing block printing with The Arty Crafty Place and some metal work (which I was rubbish at!) If you’re interested The Handmade Fair is taking place from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th May in Ragley Hall, Park and Gardens. Check out their website for details and tickets.

Happy Things - Pastry Tartlet

#2- Puff Pastry Tartlets

I love to cook and you know how I love a faffy Rick Stein recipe. But mid week this isn’t usually an option. Especially when work is as busy as it is at the moment. So I love how easy these Puff Pastry Tartlets are to make. Just get some puff pastry (pre rolled stuff) and cut into shape. Brush oil/melted butter round the edges. Then top with whatever you want! These were pesto, mozzarella and salami. Delicious! 15-20 mins in the oven and they’ll be done.

Happy Things - Running

#3- Starting Running Again

I’ve recently embarked on attempting to run regularly (again- for like the fifth time since moving??) I’ve decided this time to run when I can and not pressure myself into a crazy schedule just yet. Purely because I’ve only just gotten over a recent arthritis flare up and I’m hoping it’s slowly motivate me to gain more mileage. The guys at Bridgedale* have been totally awesome and sent me some incredible socks to try out and I shall be sharing more on these soon! Here’s to BST because these lighter evenings have been incredibly motivating for running.

Happy Things - Snail Mail

#4- Snail Mail

I love love love sending post. I enjoy writing letters, even if short and sweet or just sending a postcard I think someone will like to them. I still get excited wandering to the postbox to post letters. Just like I did when I was little and posting letters for my mum and dad. I’ve always kept my address book up to date for this reason as well. Plus receiving snail mail is very cheering 🙂

Happy Things - Ultimate Satay Sauce

#5- Ultimate Satay Sauce

Oh yeah, this one is rather exciting. I promise the recipe will be in a post soon and it’s a good one. I’ve been experimenting with making the ultimate satay sauce and I think I’m there. It’s great with meat, fish or veg. I shall be sharing it in the next couple of weeks, along with a Singapore noodles recipe!

So what’s been making you happy lately? Let me know in the comments,

It was really good fun, I did go to the fair in Manchester last year but it was fun to see how they’ve switched things up for 2017.
