5 Happy Things #22

April 11, 2017

So I’ve been a bit MIA lately, some busy times at work and some serious family stuff going on means I’ve had to take a break from blogging. I have missed my blog, it’s been hard for me not to have time to do things that I want to do in my spare time!

But, things are starting to look more positive, so I thought I’d come back with a little update. This through my favourite posts to write, 5 Happy Things! So what’s been making me happy lately…

5 Happy Things - Spring Blossom

#1 – Spring

Ok so the temperatures aren’t as high this week, but the bright mornings and light until late in the evening haven’t disappeared entirely. It’s definitely put a spring in my step (hehe!) Plus it’s made the whole work and life situations a little easier to deal with.

5 Happy Things - Baking

#2 – Baking

These are my Salted Caramel and Chocolate Hot Cross Buns pre-oven. I forgot how much of a pain Hot Cross Buns are to make. But I think they were more successful than last year’s attempt. The recipe will be live later this week.

5 Happy Things - Worcester

#3 – Worcester

I think I’ve finally accepted living here since moving back. It was a decision I didn’t really have (to move or not) but I was a bit grouchy about coming back to somewhere I grew up as a kid. But it’s been quite fun really, reestablishing old friendships and making new ones. Plus Worcester is really turning things around, there’s a lot more to do in the city now.

5 Happy Things - London

#4 – Weekends away

We’ve been away a lot lately. Heading down to London for Mother’s Day weekend – and the most epic brunch at Le Pont de la Tour (see post next week on this). We’ve also been to the Lake District to get some hiking in and catch up with uni mates. We went to Grasmere and it was wonderfully pretty! I ate my weight in gingerbread and drank lots of lovely beer. Just wonderful.

5 Happy Things

#5 – Friends and Family

There’s no doubt about it, we’ve not been given a break from relentless crappy situations lately. However, we’ve been really lucky to have friends around that help us out and family that care too. I’m not sure how I’d have gotten through some of the last few weeks without them! I really enjoy drinking gin on the balcony with Mummy Pond this weekend 🙂

So what’s been making you happy lately? Are you excited that summer is on it’s way?

This weekends weather was perfect wasn’t it, I couldn’t have asked for better. Such a change though when it went to freezing yesterday, I couldn’t believe it! Your pictures are lovely on this post, Worcester looks beautiful there in the sun!

I’m glad that things are looking up for you now. Your hot cross buns sound good, especially salted caramel. Spring definitely makes me happy too and being able to get outdoors more.
