Hello and welcome to another feature of my 5 Happy Things. I don’t post these as much as I’d like too, but I’m hoping some routine will come back to my blog soon as things in my life ease!
This week is a real mix in my 5 Happy Things from food to experiences. Dr W and I have been trying to spend more time together after a busy few weeks. We’ve also been celebrating a fair bit after getting some good news (which I’m sure I’ll be allowed to share soon!)
#1 Snowshill Manor
We love our National Trust memberships, we’ve been using them as an excuse to explore more. We’ve visited Barns, ruins and this time the beautiful (and very quirky) Snowshill Manor. Incredible gardens, nestled in beautiful countryside and the most weirdly wonderful house full of amazing collections. Well worth a visit, member or not!
#2- Cheese!*
Le Rustique* sent me the most amazing stash of cheese. I’ve baked Camembert Scones so far, as well as Dr W and I inviting friends round for a cheese themed dinner. I forget how good Baked Camembert is, especially with lashings of chutney and bacon bits! We were very satisfied after that! Next up I will be making Brie Parcels, and of course I’ll be sharing the recipe.
#3 Chilli Festival
The other weekend we braved the bank holiday rain for the Chilli Festival at Eastnor Castle. We went with some good friends of ours and enjoyed some ridiculously hot (and tasty) chilli themed food. Dr W and I accidentally bought yet more condiments (our fridge now has 2 shelves pretty packed with condiments) and I had the most incredible burger from Beefy Boys. If you’re Hereford way you need to check out their place.
#4 John Frieda Blonde Hair Care*
The last couple of weeks I’ve been trying out John Frieda Go Blonder*, a shampoo and conditioner combo designed to help lighten your hair but not too harshly. Now the sun is renowned for lightening my blonde hair so it’s hard to say with these sunny days if it’s worked. But I’ve been swimming a lot lately and this has really helped keep my hair from going brassy. The John Frieda Oil Elixir* has been keeping it in wonderful condition as well. If you’re a blonde, I’d definitely recommend these.
#5 Worcester
Last weekend Dr W and I spent the whole weekend in Worcester, a rather rare occurrence for us at the moment. We made the most of walking round the city, enjoying the sunshine and drinking gin in our favourite pubs. I love Worcester in the sunshine, it really is very picturesque.

I really love Snowshill Manor! They have so many different varieties of apple in the fall, so it might be worth revisiting then as you’ve got a membership. They did samples of applesauce in the cafe. 🙂
I agree that Worcester is quite picturesque in the sunshine. I love my walk over Sabrina Bridge in the summer.
It was a great NT property – I’ll make sure we head back in autumn 🙂
Sounds like you’ve had a top time out and about. Our National Trust membership is worth every penny, it’s taken me to so many interesting places. I love cheese scones 🙂 I make them with goats cheese and lactofree milk though. I bet yours taste ace 🙂 look forward to seeing more recipes…. Oh Chilli 🙂 N would like that festival 🙂
I love our NT membership – can’t wait to visit some properties up north 🙂 Goats cheese scones sound fab, I’ll have to give that a go 🙂
I would just love all of the cheese! Baked camembert is just the best!
Baked camembert is definitely the best 🙂
Love the idea of making a “Happy Things” list… makes you appreciate everyday life and notice good things as they are happening. Cheers!
Definitely 🙂 You should give it a go, they’re my favourite posts to write.
Totally craving baked Camebert now!

Oh that cheese looks so good! I haven’t had a good baked Camembert since Christmas but I think it’s going to go on the shopping list right now …
