5 Happy Things #24

October 16, 2017

As I explained in my post last week, life has been quite a challenge lately. So along with re-starting my personal journal after a lengthy hiatus, I’ve decided to restart my Happy Things posts.

Writing down my Happy Things helps me focus on the good things when I get caught up in negative thoughts. This week’s happy things is a real mish mash of stuff from the last few weeks.

5-Happy-Things-Rofouto

Rofuto Sky Bar’s First Birthday Party

A couple of Wednesday’s back I was invited down to Rofuto‘s first birthday party* along with my favourite Brum Bloggers, George and Laura. We got to try out some incredible sushi (just look at that platter) as well as their new cocktail menu. All three of us would highly recommend the Eastern Medicine cocktail! It was a super fun evening and I really enjoyed letting my hair down.

5 Happy Things - Hiking in the Malverns

Hiking

Dr W and I go away at the end of December for a week in Scotland. As usual we have plenty of hiking planned. To get in shape for the trip, Dr W and I have made a pact to get out on the hills/mountains more. We started by heading up the Malvern Hills for a 15km walk this weekend. I think we’ll be off to South Wales next weekend for another adventure.

5 Happy Things - Veeno Wine Tasting

Veeno Wine Tasting

This weekend Dr W and I were invited down to Veeno* in Stratford Upon Avon. We were there to check out their Selezione Wine Tasting. This wine tasting experience featured some of their more premium wines and Dr W and I found a couple of new favourites. As well as having a wonderful (if not slightly merry) day out in Stratford!

5-Happy-Things-Number-131-Cheltenham

Number 131, The Promenade, Cheltenham

The other weekend Mummy Pond and I went to Cheltenham. I blogged about our lunch at the Suffolk Arms. But walking around the town afterwards, we found a wonderful cocktail bar, Number 131. We couldn’t resist paying a visit… The Singapore Sling was most excellent! Mummy Pond and I have decided we will be going back for afternoon tea next time!

Exploring Ladybower

And recently we went on a much needed trip to Sheffield. We caught up with good friends and it gave me a chance to be honest about not feeling great all the time. It was great to get some support and love from friends. As well as going out in Sheffield, we went for a walk and a talk around Ladybower. This is Dr W and I’s old hiking/fell running haunt so we got to reminisce about life up north as well as having time to chat properly. It’s was a wonderful afternoon.

So what’s been making you happy lately? Let me know in the comments,

I have a weekly 5 happy things post too, I find it really helps to concentrate my mind on the good things, even if they’re small.

Looks like you’ve had a lot of fun! Wine tasting sounds so good as well, I would definitely be leaving with a big buzz if I ever did that!
