I’ve been feeling a bit hit and miss about blogging lately. Life has gotten busy, both ups and downs, and it’s not left me much headspace to think about much else.
But I finally feel like I may be moving away from this phase. I have things I want to write about, we have fun adventures planned that I hope to share and I have no end of recipes that I want to write up. Today I’m back with my favourite type of post, my 5 Happy Things! So what’s been making me happy lately…
#1 – Running
My running mojo is well and truly back. Last week I ran 10km and whilst I ached the next day, they were the post exercise aches you’d expect, not the nasty arthritis! Hoorah, decent training and getting back to the swimming pool for recovery days has helped me so much. I’ve also recently bought a tonne of new kit from Tikiboo Fitness and I’m partly persuaded that my mojo stems from new kit. It’s 4 weeks til my 10k race and hopefully I’m gonna smash it!
#2 – Giraffe Spotting!
To raise money for St Richard’s Hospice there is a wonderful Giraffe Trail in Worcester. #WorcStandsTall features giraffes from local companies, celebrities and communities. Individually crafted and picked because of their sociable manner as creatures. Giraffes hang around in communities, much like humans and that makes them a fantastic pick for this community campaign. When I was on my run the other day I snapped up a few down by the river, I need to go for a long walk around the city to find the rest.
#3 – Fizz and flowers
There’s a new salon in town, which is quite exciting for my tired locks. Blushes Hair is between Friar Street and New Street and is set in a gorgeous old Victorian building. My mum and I were invited down to check out the salon at a launch event. The salon itself was light, airy and has made an incredible use of the space. I’m heading down next month for a cut and style and I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes, I’m really looking forward to it!
#4 – Worcester
I have missed my runs along the river and living by the water since our move a bit further out of the city. It was lovely to get out for a run the other day that encompassed some of my old route. The weather was perfect and the river so still, perfect for photos. I’m hoping I’ll be able to run this route more now seeing as I have 10k in my legs (ran my first 10k in 3 years last week!) Which means I’ll get to enjoy this view more.
#5 – Time with Mummy Pond
Over the last week or so I have managed to see Mummy Pond quite a lot. This has been so lovely, as with her time on holiday and my crazy schedule meant it had been weeks since we last saw each other properly. In the last week or so we’ve had tea and cake, gone swimming, went to a salon opening together and at the weekend she came to ours for our house warming BBQ. The other week we went to Bodega for dinner, where we enjoyed sharing nachos and tacos. It really has been wonderful to catch up, especially as I’m now away quite frequently until October so won’t see her as much as I’d like.
