It was so wonderful to head back up to Manchester a couple of weekends ago. I kinda felt it was time, almost 3 months since we’d moved away.
Manchester formed quite a huge part of my life and we still have friends who live there. I’m glad to have this connection with the city though as it’s going to be nice to return as and when I can. A few plans fell through but in the end Ms M and I made our own plans and ended up doing some great things instead.
On the Saturday we decided to head to Tatton Park and visit the gardens. The summer season coming to an end we got to catch the last of the flowers on show as well. It was lovely to have an afternoon away from my phone, catching up with a good friend.
We turned up in time for afternoon tea at the Gardener’s Cottage too, which was a wonderful treat. Beautiful sandwiches using produce grown at Tatton as well as wonderfully warm, fresh out of the oven scones. It was just wonderful and the service was fab- I highly recommend booking in.
Another thing we got to see was where some of the produce is grown. It was amazing to see these gardens with giant vegetables and fruit (mainly apples at this time of the year!) I was super impressed you could buy produce Tatton wasn’t going to use either, if I hadn’t have been travelling by train I would’ve indulged! The Roald Dahl centenary exhibition/trail was also on. I especially loved the BFG’s chair. I made Ms M sit on Sophie’s!
We had a leisurely evening on the Saturday, heading to Dog Bowl for dinner. After which we went home, watched movies and drank tea. Very relaxing after all that walking!
On Sunday we met up with Dr C for breakfast. Heading to Common to enjoy their offerings- I highly recommend brekkie here! We couldn’t stop ourselves from having Prosecco at Albert’s Schloss and shopping til we dropped either. I spent a small fortune on Joe Malone perfume as a treat…
So yeah, it was a rather bumper packed weekend and I was pretty much in need of another weekend when I got back to Worcester! It was totally worth it though and I’ll be back next month too!
Have you been to Manchester recently? What should I check out for my return visit (that’s new and I may not have seen since leaving). Let me know in the comments,
