Embracing Christmas with Festive Books and Snacks!

November 30, 2016

So it’s the last day of November, and I’m on the count down to Christmas holidays. Although admittedly I’ve already had a festive couple of days this weekend…

We had a very busy Saturday in Birmingham. Whilst we had an awesome pre Christmas dinner at Chi Kitchen (more on that this Friday!), it was pretty exhausting! So on Sunday I decided to take a chill out day to enjoy some festive snacks and check out some festive reads. After getting lost and going on an accidental epic run… Oops.

We must all remember that at every point during Christmas snacking is important. This year Tyrrells Crisps have released a Three Bird Roast flavour of crisps. Definitely meaty but not as much flavour as I would’ve liked, still yummy though and even better with dip. They’ve also joined the hype and released Tyrrells Posh Corn in Bellini flavour (peach purée and prosecco). Admittedly I’d much rather drink it, but it does work in a sweet popcorn! Far better than some of the cocktail crisps I’ve tried, think it’s definitely better to make sweet popcorn over sweet crisps!

So carrying on with my cosy (sorry world- almost Hygge) afternoon. I brewed some tea in my lovely new Christmas Mug from Waitrose, because why not?! And settled down to check out Nightmare Before Christmas. This picture book, released by Puffin and illustrated by Tim Burton (yes I know right?!) is a magical affair. Reminding me of that wonderful story (the film may have been released in October but to me controversial opinion it is a Christmas film!) I love the illustrations in the book, I only snapped one though as I didn’t want to ruin the magic for fans.

Moving on to something a bit more serious. Murder for Christmas was something I picked up on a whim. I’m quite into murder mysteries so it’s perfect for me. I’m quite gripped already! I won’t ruin it but do pick it up if that’s your thing.

Lastly, I was sent this most beautiful William Morris, The Twelve Days of Christmas book. Released by the V&A Museum and Puffin, this book is a feast for your eyes. Beautiful festive drawings of the twelve days of Christmas and perfect for any coffee table during the Christmas season. I may have to get Mummy Pond her own copy as she was a tad jealous when she saw mine!

So back to christmas! Tonight I’ve planned to put up my new tree. Originally we weren’t having one because of our teeny flat, but I have decided I can’t do December without some decorations around the place! I’ll probably watch Elf and enjoy a festive G&T.

Have you picked up any festive books yet? What are your favourite Christmas snacks? How do you get in the Christmas Spirit? Let me know in the comments,

That Nightmare Before Christmas picture book looks amazing – for a few years, back in an old house I used to live in, we had a purple/black Christmas tree and Jack Skellington used to sit on top of the tree – and we had glittery skull baubles and hot pink tinsel…sounds awful but looked great.

And crisps are always good. Mmm crisps.

That’s amazing, my sister would love that kind of tree! I have to admit I’m a bit boring with mine. Although we do have Jack and Sally mugs (his n hers) for hot chocolate consumption 🙂

I always watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, so i’ll have to invest in the book now I know Tim Burton has illustrated it!

I’m loving all the Christmassy posts at the moment. It’s my favourite time of the year. I’ve just started reading I heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk, can definitely recommend it. Another book I read every Christmas is Wuthering Heights.

I’ll have to give it a go, I love Wuthering Heights so I may have to break that out too. It’s my favourite time of the year too 🙂

Hope the new tree went up well? I’m SO excited to put up ours soon, as I’m always down for festivities over Christmas!

I’m always down for anything crisps(or carb based if were being honest) so, I’ll have to try the Bellini ones

It went up really easily, but it’s only small! The Bellini popcorn is well worth a try 🙂

I love your reminder about snacking at Christmas! I have to say that snack-wise, I’m looking forward to Twiglets! Random and so uninspiring, I know, but I only have them at Christmas time for some reason.

The William Morris books looks lovely! Definitely something nice to decorate the coffee table with for guests to browse during the festive season.

I don’t really do that much Christmassy stuff. We do have Christmas Blinds though and a Christmas Easel which I am planning at the moment. We are a bit off beat really! I look forward to seeing your tree though, Emma 🙂

I do quite like Twiglets and Mini Cheddars too…. The William Morris book is definitely perfect for that. My tree is only teeny hehe!

I have been counting down to Christmas for a while too. Can’t wait. Love the mug.

It’s even more exciting now we’re munching through out advent calendars! The mug is one of my favourite purchases 🙂
