6 Ways to Celebrate World Gin Day

June 10, 2016

So tomorrow, the 11th of June, brings us World Gin Day. The very best of all of the days! As a gin lover I thought I should share with you my ideas for 6 Ways to Celebrate World Gin Day!

Personally, this year I shall be celebrating with a few G&Ts with friends in Manchester as I am having a bit of a leaving do! The ideas I have for you to celebrate World Gin Day with involve everything from baking to afternoon tea as well as finding a gin bar to enjoy a gin in!

6 Ways to Celrbate World Gin Day

Gin-Journey-London

Try out a Gin Journey

Gin Journey runs in London, Liverpool and Manchester. Expect a tour of the city via some amazing bars with cocktails curated especially for the journey. I recently experienced London’s, but I have Manchester’s firmly on my list of things to do. However, with my move I’m hoping that Birmingham may feature on their list soon!

Eton Mess Meringue Recipe

Bake meringues and make a Gin and Tonic Eton Mess

Or cheat, don’t bake meringues, just make the gin soaked strawberries, whip up some cream and add shop bought meringues. This is a wonderfully summery dessert and the gin makes a fantastic addition- in this case I suggest Bloom gin, it is pretty much designed to go with strawberries.

Have a Gin Themed Afternoon Tea

So Fortnum and Mason make jam that has gin in it. Wonderful wonderful blackcurrant and gin jam. It goes amazingly with scones and isn’t that boozy in taste at all. So why not get yourself a jar, bake up some goodies and enjoy an afternoon tea for a less boozy World Gin Day celebration.

Gin and Elderflower Ice Lollies_Header

Make Gin and Tonic Ice Lollies

Pinterest constantly showed these to me last year, but they all used cucumber. Cucumber is not so great for me so I had a bit of fun trying out some gins and fruit combos for ice lollies. My favourite combo was definitely the Bloom Gin and strawberries ice lolly. But I can also recommend Botanist and kiwi fruit or Martin Miller’s and pear, both really really work!

East London Liquor Co Gin and Tonic

Enjoy the Perfect Gin and Tonic

I love finding new gins to try, this necessarily isn’t about making your gin and tonic perfect. But actually finding a new gin and garnish combination that works for you. I recently enjoyed Martin Miller’s with strawberries and black pepper, also the East London Liquor Co with lime and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic. It’s always worth having a google to see what people are trying with their gins or heading to a gin bar for some tips!

Chase Gin Apple Cocktail

Head out to celebrate in One of Manchester’s Best Gin Bars

If you’re a fellow Manchester based Gin Lover, why not head out to go and visit a gin bar to celebrate? I recently wrote about my top 5 gin bars (link above). Hopefully there’s somewhere new or an old favourite on my list you’d like to head too to celebrate. I think on World Gin Day you’ll be finding me at Atlas Bar, they have some gin’s on their menu I have yet to try!

I’ve never been a big gin drinker, I think I’ve not found the right gin for me! The bloom and strawberries sounds yum & Eton Mess is literally my favourite thing to eat! Great post, it really got me thinking about trying something different

Sounds like you’re going to have a fun day! I’ve never really got into gin but reading some of the combinations you’ve mentioned makes me want to give it more of a try.

While I was reading this I remembered this jam recipe http://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2013/09/damson-plum-gin-jam.html which I found a while ago and thought you might like to try for an afternoon tea x
