Quirky Home Decor with Uncommon Goods

July 21, 2017

We live in a teeny rented flat, so redecorating isn’t something we can do sadly. But what we can do is have fun with our furnishings! Recently Uncommon Goods helped us out, with adding more of a homely vibe to our flat.

Uncommon Goods are US based, but have an incredibly easy to use website, which points out what you can ship worldwide and not. The shipping fees aren’t mental either and they show you estimated shipping times (I found this was super accurate). So what did I pick?!

Uncommon Goods Lightbox

My Cinema Lightbox

We’ve been wanting a proper light box for ages. That’s where My Cinema Lightbox come in. Their standard size lightbox is perfect for our gin shelf (and also parties!) You can even get extra letters and emojis for it… something I definitely want to do the longer I’ve had the light box. I’m thinking coloured letters next!

Uncommon Goods - Chromosome Pillow

Uncommon Goods Pillow

I picked the Chromosome Pillow as I’m such a geek, despite not being a proper scientist anymore. Whilst it’s sad that it didn’t come as the male and female in a pair, it’s still very cool. It’s the perfect size for our Ikea Pöang chair. FYI- the most comfy chairs EVER!

Uncommon Goods BedsideEssentials Pocket

The Bedside Essentials Pocket is a super useful addition to the bedroom. I don’t have a bedside table on my side of the bed so this is useful for ramming my bits and bobs in. It has useful holes for charging cables to be fed through as well. No more hiding my phone under my pillow! It’s not perfect for our bed frame but it still does the job!

Overall Uncommon Goods is a fun website with loads of decor ideas. If you live in a rented flat like us, it’s nice to add your own touch to it and fun soft furnishings do just that. There’s also some bigger more forever home type items on there. But I’ll be saving them for my wish list for when we eventually sort a house!

What would you pick? How do you add a bit of you to your home? Let me know in the comments,

I love that bedside pocket. I need something like this, but I didn’t know that kind of thing existed.

It’s definitely super useful, you can use it on sofas too!

I really want a lightbox to put messages on but I have no shelf space anywhere for one. One day, when I have a big house, I will have a light box. Till then, we will keep leaving funky messages on our fridge using magnetic letters!

That’s a shame. I thought I didn’t but have snuck it in front of things on a shelf!
