Six Tips for Self Care Sunday

July 31, 2016

Back to work tomorrow, so what can you do today to get yourself ready for the week ahead? Here are my tips for Self Care Sunday.

Self Care Sunday

#1- Write a list for Monday

Do you have a lot on your mind about the week ahead? It can really help for a good Sunday night’s sleep if you get those pesky thoughts out of your head onto paper. I like to plan for the week ahead in my Bullet Journal.

#2- Pre-make lunch or brekkie

Over night oats for breakfast? Cous cous jar for lunch? Have a look online for ideas for quick and easy meals that can be made the night ahead. This will make your Monday morning that little bit easier and a lot less rushed.

Six Tips for Self Care Sunday

#3- Meal plan for the week/book a food delivery for tomorrow

This is something I swear has seriously helped us. I know it’s probably a bit too late today, but you could order a shop for tomorrow night (Ocado do free delivery, min spend £40). I plan for the week ahead meal wise, using my recipe books and many issues of Good Food for inspiration. We also make sure we have a stocked freezer for the nights where we don’t want to faff, usually a Friday!

#4- Run a bubble bath

Long week? Feeling tired? Run a bubble bath with your favourite products and look after yourself. Maybe take a brew with you too? Just chill out for a bit and enjoy having nothing to do for that period of time. I like to take a book with me too, so why not do that as well!

Self Care Sunday Tips

#5- Make something easy for dinner

Whilst that Sunday roast dinner is lovely, it can create a lot of work. Why not make something easy for dinner? Check out my Comfort Food Recipes for a few Sunday night comfort ideas. Make enough for 2 nights then you won’t have to worry about Monday’s dinner either!

#6- Chocolate

Treat yourself! It’s Self Care Sunday, if you’re feeling blue why not have some chocolate. Bahlsen have just released PiCK UP! Minis in two different flavours. These make a good treat with a brew, although it is hard to stop yourself from eating the whole packet!

I love this, it is definitely easier to be relaxed when you have a plan (and some nice food to look forward to!)

I’m always up at 6am on a Sunday (thanks to my toddler) and use the day to go for a walk, meal prep and iron all her nursery clothes for the week. But I definitely plan to schedule in some relaxing time. Your tips sound great, love you’re a Lush fan too. X

Sounds like a busy Sunday! I usually get up early, but plan nothing for the evening so I can relax 🙂

I am such an advocate for meal planning – not only does it take the stress of having to go to a supermarket (blugh!) or thinking what to have every day, it saves on waste food!

I always prep for the next day too, so get cat bowls sorted, mugs and brew kit ready, lunchboxes out etc and I write a to-do list to empty my head too.

My main self care tip is getting out and about in the great outdoors though, burning some energy and taking an adventure – wherever you may be! Seeing new things, connecting with people and spaces is such a great way to rejuvenate. Even if it’s a short lunchtime walk, get out and away from your desk and explore somewhere new.

Meal planning has quite literally saved my life! It’s so great to not have to worry and you’re so right about food waste.

Love this! Sunday evenings are definitely spent sorting my life out and chilling. I totally get what you mean about an easy dinner – I can’t be slaving over the oven when there are lists to be written and bubble baths to be had!

    • Reply MissPond August 18, 2016 at 9:36 am

Definitely agree- prioritising bubble baths is an important thing for Sundays!

Great advice and tips here – I especially love the list one as just getting my worries down onto paper and out of my brain is always so helpful, and a nice, warm bubble bath before work the next day is always a comfort. Thank you for this post, I definitely needed to read this today! – Tasha

Thank you 🙂 The pen to paper thing always helps clear my head 🙂

This actually sounds like my ideal Sunday! Especially the list making – I’m so much more productive when I can see all my tasks laid out in front of me.

Lists are always so helpful and just ease the pressure, exactly what you need on a Sunday.

Sundays are the only day in the week that we do not have anything going on, so we just like to relax, well until my son’s rugby union season starts.
    Great post

Oooh make the most of it until that season starts again!!

Such a great set of tips. I like to do my Sunday in two halves – a frenzy of tidying in the morning followed by a chilled, restful evening. Lush.

I am very much the same, the planning/tidying/meal planning morning followed by an afternoon flopped out in front of Columbo…

Thank you 🙂 Having lunch ready means that Monday morning is just a little bit less rushed isn’t it?!

Aw love this. I like to write a little list of my goals and reminders for the week ahead 🙂 x

I just like my Sunday to get everything in order for the week, I’ve finally done about 10 loads of washing today! I’m away a lot in the week at the moment but when I am home, I love to do overnight oats for the week too!

    • Reply MissPond August 18, 2016 at 9:46 am

I love having Sunday morning to do everything but then rest all afternoon too 🙂
