A Relaxing Dinner at Trippets Lounge Bar | Sheffield

As regular readers will know, I discovered Trippets Lounge Bar on one of my more recent trips to Sheffield. When I returned with Dr W a few weeks later, we had to book in for dinner there with our friends.

After a day wandering around Kelham Island. Followed by a quick disco nap, we headed Trippets Lounge Bar for our dinner. I was looking forward to dinner, as it’s a little different to your average restaurant. The food is not only all locally sourced and freshly made. The dishes are all served as small plates. You are encouraged to order a few plates to start then continue on.

To get started I went with the Poached Egg and Mushrooms on Toast. This was absolutely delicious, the mushrooms were in a rich and creamy garlic sauce. The egg was perfectly poached and a wonderful addition to the dish. Dr W started with a Ploughmans Plate. The cured brassola was tasty and the cheese (we can’t remember what it was) was lovely and creamy.

Of course there was gin involved in dinner. I didn’t snap all of what we tried, but I did grab a couple of shots. I really enjoyed Sibling Gin which was served with thyme and blueberries. The sweet with the dry gin really worked. Dr W really enjoyed the Caorrun Gin with the pink lady apple, one of his favourite gins.

Some more plates we enjoyed included the Frittata, which came with a wonderful tomato salsa that was delicious! More of that please! We also ordered the Steak and Kidney Sliders to share. These came with a home made slaw and were wonderfully earthy. I’m definitely going to give making my own Steak and Kidney Burgers a go as it really worked. The Cured Meats Platter was a great sharer too. The homemade pickles went really well with the cured salami.

We did order plenty more at Trippets, but I didn’t want to shove my camera in my mates plates too! They helped cater for my dairy free friend and were happy to suggest dishes to try. It really was a wonderfully relaxing dinner. We never felt rushed and we really enjoyed the cosy restaurant.

    Looks amazing! The food looks great but i can’t help but want to try the gin and pink lady apple haha.

    This sounds like a great dinner. I love poached eggs and your photos made me hungry. I am going to Sheffield in a few weeks so will have to look for this bar.

    I like the sound of ordering smaller dishes, that way you get to sample more!
