Remember when your mum told you that meeting people off the internet is a bad idea. Now I’m not saying in every circumstance it is a great idea. But I must admit, in my adult life, some of the best friends I have are my internet friends.
Today’s post was prompted by BrumBloggers who have organised #BrumBlogmas this December. I’m mainly using instagram but today’s prompt warranted a blog post – ‘Blogger Nice List.’ After a tweet this week prompted me to list my internet friends, I realise just how lucky I am to have met some wonderful people on my blogging journey.

I started blogging because I basically loathed my PhD, I was looking for an outlet more than anything, but with it brought so much more. At some point I ended up joining the Manchester Bloggers Facebook Group (which FYI now I help to run!) and this led to me meeting fellow Manchester bloggers at events. After a while I had ended up making some long standing friends. Lovely ladies like Keeley, Clare and Jess (just to name a few). The more we saw each other the more we said hello to each other more and more and naturally we ended up friends. Now we stay in contact because I head up to Manchester every so often and it’s great to meet up.
In 2014 along came Jasmin who is actually from London but was working a lot in Manchester back when we met. She put on a blogger event when she was up north, then from following her on twitter I started chatting with other London bloggers. Eventually this led to me meeting some wonderful bloggers through playing Monopoly and then on a boat! The wonderful Charlie, Emma and Katy came into my life (just to name a few)! These ladies have kept me in check and helped me out with blogger stuff over the years.
After a good few years up north and enjoying time with wonderful blogger friends and visiting the further away ones. I then ended up moving to Birmingham, which leads me to newest internet friends. I can’t remember how Laura and I got talking on Twitter but we did,and then met at Pirlo’s where I met George for the first time too. They then introduced me to Fay and we’ve not stopped drinking together since (haha!) It really has helped moving cities being a blogger, it’s definitely a great way to meet like minded people. I must also thank Brum Bloggers for organising wonderful meet ups and most of all the Brum Bloggers Blind Dates. I went for a wonderful dinner at Siamais and met Emmalene, another local blogger worth a follow!
But my internet friends list is not just bloggers though. I have made some amazing non-blogger internet friends. The lovely Michelle and Sarah I met through twitter. They have ended up being two of my favourite people in the world. Sarah even came to stay with me in Manchester from London, having never even met me before! Now we speak daily and are a constant source of love and advice.
I think we’re very privileged to live in the time we do, where we can be a bit more savvy about the people we meet from the internet. It’s not all weirdos and catfishes, there are some lovely folk out there. Have you made any internet friends that you’ve met in real life? Would you meet up with someone from the internet? Let me know in the comments,
P.S. This is just a small sample of my wonderful internet friends list. If I didn’t mention you I’m sorry, I do still love you!
