Today Ms M is sharing with you a new place to brunch in Manchester. A wonderful addition to the Northern Quarter, that serves a hearty breakfast, Nibble NQ!
Recently I was invited to Nibble NQ to try out the re-vamped café now that it has rebranded (previously Blue Daisy Café). I hadn’t visited Blue Daisy, but was looking forward to seeing what Nibble HQ had to offer.
To drink, Mr C had the Bog Standard Coffee and I had the Takes Two to Mango smoothie. Mr C’s coffee was as bog standard as advertised – not to say that it wasn’t nice, it was – but that it was just a coffee. Personally, I love the fact that the coffee isn’t taking itself too seriously and really enjoyed hearing other people order their ‘bog standard’ coffees. Maybe I’m just easily amused, but from the off, it feels like Nibble NQ will settle into NQ life. But enough on semantics, what about my smoothie? Well, as a huge mango fan, it didn’t have enough mango in it to my taste, but certainly a very nice drink.
To eat, I had the Meatie Brekkie and Mr C had the French Toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup. The Meatie Brekkie is gorgeous – the sausage and bacon are so tasty. Not the usual I’ve come to expect from a cooked breakfast, it had really good quality meat! Mr C’s French Toast was also amazing, obviously with the same fab bacon, but the sweet and salty really complemented each other. A seriously great place to go for brunch in my opinion. But make sure you get there early as it’s not the biggest place!
Obviously, no brunch is complete without dessert. We then had a slice of Banana Loaf and Blueberry Cake. Both were excellent. We were also given a couple of brownies to try – one uber-indulgent and the other made with avocado. Unfortunately we devoured those too quickly to get a photo, so you’ll just have to visit yourself if you want to see what they’re like! (I’d definitely go for the triple chocolate one, brownies shouldn’t really be “good” for you!)
They’ve got a great lunch menu too – yes, I have been back for lunch (I do only work around the corner), twice… I will definitely be going over to treat myself with a brownie every so often (they’re really naughty but taste sooooo good!) FYI Nibble NQ is a great place if anyone is veggie, vegan, gluten free, refined sugar free etc.
Have you checked out Nibble NQ? What would you order? Let me know in the comments,
