Foodie Finds #8 | Summertime Snacking

July 18, 2018

This heatwave has turned me into a right snacker. Unable to cope with food in normal meal like states I’ve turned to smaller nibbly things during the day. So today I am sharing my Summertime Foodie Finds!

Now some of these wonderful snacks were sent to me to try out. You’ll be pleased to know I put them through extensive snacking testing before sharing with you. And you know what, not everything I was sent made the cut. Because if I don’t like it, chances are you might not either. So what did make the cut… Let’s see what made my Foodie Finds #8!

Foodie-Finds-Doisy-and-Dam

#1 Doisy & Dam*

I am a huge fan of dark chocolate, so I was slightly biased when I saw these. I’m please to report that this chocolate is of a very high standard. The standout pack for me being the Maple, Toasted Rice and Pink Salt variety. I’m a huge fan of sea salt chocolate/caramel, so this really was the one. I’m not a huge fan of the coconut, but Dr W did a good job of demolishing the Coconut & Lucuma, saying it was like a posh Bounty! Either way 10/10 would purchase again, as there is such a thing as too much dark chocolate. A couple of squares of Doisy & Dam were enough to quench my sweet tooth cravings.

Foodie-Finds-Sweet-Treats

#2 More Sweet Treats – Milkybar Wowsomes* and KIND Snacks*

The Milkybar Wowsomes are the new kid on the block. Designed to be smaller, so less calories and sugar than a normal bar, but again quench your sweet tooth. Annoyingly though, one Wowsome isn’t enough, they didn’t curb my sweet tooth as much as the dark chocolate. The KIND Snacks were a bit more filling for me, mainly using dark chocolate covered nuts and dried fruit, they’re more my kind of snack. The best definitely being the Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate! These would be perfect for a day on the hill hiking or after a 10k race.

#3 Ember Biltong*

Looking for a bit more protein? Then Ember have you covered. No extra nasties added to make their Biltong and they are low cal too. I actually really enjoyed the Chilli flavour, but I like a kick. Dr W and I fought over the stash that they sent us and even bought more in Waitrose to top up supplies. Sometimes when you’re feeling peckish a sweet treat seems like a good hit, but protein can be more filling. Again, 10/10 here!

Foodie-Finds-Perrier-and-Juice

#4 Perrier & Juice*

A new release from Perrier, these are their famous waters flavoured with juice, hence Perrier & Juice. The perfect summertime drink IMO. All three flavours went down a storm in our house.  But for me, the Peach & Cherry is one that I will buy again! Fill a glass with ice and pour over or enjoy straight from a cold can, they’re great. They’d make the perfect picnic refreshments.

Foodie-Finds-Ben-and-Jerrys

#5 Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream

Last but not least, after a really shitty day at work Dr W and I went to Waitrose to get provisions for a telly night. There was an ice cream offer on so we could not resist stocking up on Ben & Jerry’s. As it was close to my birthday I went with the new Birthday Cake flavour, which I can only describe as grown up raspberry ripple! Just go and get some, you must try! Dr W picked up the vegan Chunky Monkey flavour. Now I must admit I am not the biggest banana fan, so this wasn’t for me, but he absolutely raved about this!

Overall I’ve had a great time snacking my way through summer to showcase to you some of my Foodie Finds. Have you tried any of my Foodie Finds? What would you look out for on your next supermarket shop? Let me know in the comments,

P.S. * PR samples sent to me for consideration. I am happy to admit I did a lot of snacking before deciding on what should be included in my blog. I only share things I eat/like in Foodie Finds. So you won’t see coconut water, green tea or other bleurgh tasting things.

Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Cake sounds divine. I’ve never seen it in my neck of the woods though. (I did buy their S’Mores ice cream just yesterday though, and I are way more than I anticipated.)

I’m also intrigued by this Perrier & Juice. Again, I don’t think it’s available where I live, but it sounds exactly what I’ve been craving. I’ve been sipping on flavored sparkling water all summer, but sometimes I wish it was just slightly sweetened.

I’ve not seen the smores version!!! Sounds like my kinda thing!

I need to hunt down the birthday cake ice-cream!

I found it in Waitrose, but I think Tesco stock too.

Tried the Milky Bar Wowsome the other week. Couldn’t tell it had less sugar; I enjoyed it. Must give the Birthday Cake ice cream a try! Thanks!

It only has less sugar because it’s smaller than a normal one.

I like the look of those Perrier drinks. They might go nicely with gin. Just saying.

    • Reply MissPond July 24, 2018 at 9:57 pm

I’d definitely give them a go with gin, but we finished them when on a picnic!

I really like the idea of biltong but worry it’s a bit like meat chewing gum!

    • Reply MissPond July 18, 2018 at 2:28 pm

This wasn’t at all, it’s more like ham! Jerky is definitely meat chewing gum!

It is easier to snack in this heat – I’ve found that too. I too am intrigued by the Perrier Juice, but the Doisy& Dam chocolate sounds very moreish.

The Doisy and Dam chocolate was incredibly tasty.
