Freakshakes and Burgers with Byron!

November 4, 2016

It seems that Freakshakes are this years in thing. Ms M was invited along to check out and make some Freakshakes at Byron to celebrate their menu. So what did she think…

The other day I was invited to Byron in the Manchester Corn Exchange for their “Freakshake” party. Now, I must confess that I am already a huge fan of Byron’s milkshakes so I was very excited to be invited to this event.

We were given the Oreo Freakshake to start which is currently (at the time of writing) the only Freakshake on the menu. It’s an oreo milkshake base topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate brownie, oreo, crunchie and chocolate sauce. It was fabulous! This one definitely comes highly recommended. Almost a meal in itself though!

Then we were asked to create our own. I opted for a strawberry milkshake and topped it with a crunchie, while chocolate drops and a chocolate brownie. Mr C went for a chocolate base topped with a crunchie and whipped cream (the crunchie fell to the bottom before I could take the photo though). Again, both were amazing.

We were also given some burgers and sides to have with our Freakshakes. We had the “Clucky Balboa” and the “Bean Patty”. Both were lovely but I must say that the Clucky Balboa had too much chicken in it – I’m not a fan of burgers that I have to dismantle in order to be able to eat them. The Bean Patty was really lovely; a huge piece of pepper and baby spinach on top of a bean patty (as the name indicates) – I would highly recommend it! We were also given some onion rings too nibble on, which were also superb.

So in summary; definitely visit Byron to check out their Freakshakes, they are a great addition to the menu. Especially as there will soon be a Reese’s Freakshake coming to the menu! Have you had a Freakshake yet? Have you been to Byron? Let us know in the comments,

P.S. Thanks Byron for inviting us along. In this case words, photos and opinions belong to Ms M.

P.P.S. MissPond has paid a visit to the new Byron in Birmingham since this post was written, she is very happy to have Byron nearby again!

I’ve been to Byron in Manchester, and, as an American, I can say it temporarily sated my homesickness. I particularly loved that they had root beer on the menu. And a Reese’s freakshake sounds so good!

That’s good to know an American enjoys it!

They do look absolutely amazing. I’m not sure I’d want a meal as well as the milkshake.

    • Reply MissPond November 7, 2016 at 10:27 pm

This is my feeling too. I could probably share one though 🙂

A Reece’s freakshake you say? My pregnancy craving in a milkshake? Holy moly that sounds amazing. I don’t think we’ve ever been to Byron so this sounds enough to prompt a visit.

What a craving to have! I reckon you’ll have to visit now 🙂

I love the Byron beef burgers, they are one of my fave chain burgers! I’ve never done a freak shake though, I think I’d just find them too filling!!

They’re my fave, followed closely by 5 Guys! I’m the same with shakes, although I’d probably be OK sharing one 🙂
