Quick Coffees with Lyons Coffee Bags

July 3, 2017

Now I have to admit one thing at the start of this post, I’m not the biggest fan of coffee. Only really liking sugary lattes. But Dr W has been trying to get me into it and when we were sent Lyons Coffee Bags it was another excuse to keep trying.

One thing I’ve learnt is that I don’t like strong coffee, the Lyons Coffee Bags I tried are mid-strength (3) and I actually found this was the perfect strength. Also, unlike instant you can take the coffee bag out when you want depending how strong you like it.

Lyons Coffee Bags Review

As regular readers know Dr W and I are an active couple. Often out and about at weekends hiking. Now we like to take a thermos with us, but as neither of us like instant coffee we often stick to tea. However, the Lyons Coffee Bags means we can take these out with us. Using cafetiรจre grade coffee, these are far tastier than instant.

Since I’ve started drinking these I’ve gotten into coffee more now. Taking coffee in my cute carry cup with me to the station for my commute in the morning. It really saves on my fancy latte expenses! Plus it saves on faffing with the cafetiรจre, which I have a habit of messing up and making my coffee far too strong (oops…)

One thing we were concerned with is the waste, unlike tea the coffee bags have to come foil wrapped because they lose their freshness otherwise. However, Lyons stress that the coffee bags are entirely biodegradable apart from the foil. It’s a shame the foil isn’t yet, but as many tea bags aren’t fully biodegradable yet, this is a big step! I think in the long term we’ll definitely keep these for our hiking adventures!

So what do you think of Lyons Coffee Bags? Are you convinced? Would you use these when out and about? Let me know in the comments,

An interesting idea. Much better than the plastic coffee filters for sure!

Definitely – hopefully they can ditch the foil soon too!

I haven’t seen these, but it’s an interesting concept. Fingers crossed that they work on a way to make them totally environmentally friendly.

There are some environmentally friendly versions out there. I just need to get hold of them to try for comparison.
