It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Time for merriment and fun, and plenty of drinkies! If you’re Birmingham based or visiting before Christmas then Vanguard Bar is well worth a visit for the wonderful Christmas cocktail menu.
Based on your typical Christmas party, the Vanguard Bar Christmas menu has everything from ‘the traditionalist’ to the ‘pissed up Jeff.’ The drinks are exactly what you’d expect from the typical Christmas party stereotypes. Sam the master behind the bar and the menu really has out done his creativity here.
The cocktail I enjoyed most was The Scrooge. Made with Roku Japanese Gin, Gabriel Boudier Coings, Brenne Whiskey, Dessert Wine and Grape. It’s a very grown up slushie, that is not noticeably alcoholic, rather dangerous I think as it was very drinkable. If you like dessert wine then this really is the drink for you.
I also tried The Fizz Fiend. Which is basically a Champagne cocktail that really should look purple, because it tastes like it. With violet and raspberry flavourings, it really does trick your brain. Another easy drinker and perfect if you’re celebrating finishing all your Christmas shopping.
A couple of the other cocktails the girls tried were The Pissed Up Jeff. A strong boozy hit, but with cold brew coffee, a perfect pick me up. Another one was The Basic Bitch. Makers mark, Baileys Pumpkin Spice, homemade eggnog and coffee. Not really one for me but my friend George really enjoyed it. It really was a perfectly instagrammable drink! Just so you know, the Christmas menu at Vanguard Bar is only available this side of the big day itself. The bar is open from 5pm Wed – Fri and 1pm Sat. I implore you to head there before Christmas if you can as this menu is not around long.
Have you been to Vanguard Bar before? What would you order? Let me know in the comments,
