Casual Birthday Dining at The Wolf | Birmingham

November 20, 2018

In my friendship group everything revolves around food. Good day? Food. Bad day? Food. Celebration? Food. Our WhatsApp group is mainly built on discussions of things we’ve eaten or things we plan to eat. But that’s what you get when you’re all food bloggers isn’t it?!

So when the lovely Fay’s birthday came round the only thing we could do was plan a foodie meet up. Our plans were to head to The Wolf to demolish as much cheese as we could. They also have a decent beer choice (something I was excited for) and they do pies with mash and peas if that’s more your thing. But back to beer and cheese…

Ok so beer was on my hit list the moment I saw the taps. And let me just start with the taps, how awesome are they?! I really loved the owl beer tap. Anyway, back to beer. There was a wide choice from taps to cans in the fridge. But I couldn’t say no to Lervig House Party, an absolutely epic session ale that really works. For 4% it really is a tasty beer, and let me tell you, it takes a lot to make a low % beer taste good. If you find it on tap, I implore you to try it.

Pork Pie at The Wolf Birmingham

Oh wow cheese. If you like cheese, The Wolf is the place for you. It was chilly and a bit drizzly so I went with the Four Cheese Toastie. It was gooey, wonderful and everything I needed on this cold November evening. I also went with a Pork Pie because, well, they looked so good I couldn’t say no. The others mainly went with the epic Cheese Boards (medium size is £11) and they are rather epic. Pick your cheeses from their selection, you can have meat too if you’re that way inclined and then there’s pickles and olives. It’s great value for money and if you fancy wine, on Tuesday you can get a bottle of wine and a medium cheeseboard for £20 (or 6 1/3s of draught beer).

It was such a lovely evening, cheese, beer and good company is the best way to spend a dark November evening. On a side note, The Wolf is rather lovely, completely my kind of pub. I will most definitely be back and taking Dr W with me because he’d love it too.

So have you been to The Wolf? What would you order? Let me know in the comments,

P.S. My dinner was paid for by me because I earn money to pay for my fun.
