I’m writing this on Sunday night, with a bit of a weekend come down. Because I’ve just has the most incredible weekend with my favourite people. On Saturday I took some friends on a little tour of Worcester and on Sunday we had a rather epic BBQ.
I have to admit part of me is getting a bit fed up of the heat, but then again, it’s quite wonderful to have a proper summer. I feel like I’ve been energised, and we’ve had some great times despite the heat! So what are my happy things this time…
#1 Fun Summery Events with Friends
The other week I was invited down to Three Church Road for their first birthday. It was really nice to spend some time with friends enjoying food and drink. Although the venue is in a bit of an odd location, a bistro in a retirement complex. But, I can assure you the mini versions of the food we had and the drinks available on the night make me intrigued enough to pay a visit. It’s very close to work, so it would make a great lunch venue.
#2 Gin Fuelled Belated Birthday Fun
On Saturday some really good friends of mine headed to Worcester for an afternoon of gin and indulgence. We started at Tonic, one of my favourite bars in the city – the gin shelf they have is awesome. We then moved on to The Old Rectifying House (who also have a great gin selection) and then to Burger Shop for dinner. It really was a lovely and
slightly merry day!
#3 Epic Burger Shop Feasts
My third visit to Burger Shop Worcester in short succession. Yup, I’m obsessed with the place. It really is a great venue for a casual dinner and they are fantastic at catering to dietary requirements. This time I went with a Pulled Pork Burger, and my side this time was Cheese Curds with hot sauce. Both were delicious! I’m glad to hear that all my friends enjoyed their dinner too.
#4 Mega Sunday BBQs
So it was warm and we were a bit hungover on Sunday, but we couldn’t resist a BBQ! I picked an amazing Rick Stein recipe for the grill. These Turmeric Marinated Chicken Skewers are just wonderful. They don’t take many ingredients to make and only need to marinate for an hour. I reckon the marinade would work for any meat or on tofu/quorn for veggies and vegans! We also used our own chillies from the garden to make them.
#5 Sunny Days
Last but not least, I cannot not discuss these sunny days we’ve been having. From relaxing in my parents garden, to sunny runs at Parkrun and balmy evening walks. Genuinely not a sun loving person, but the bright days are doing wonders for me. I’m not looking forward to the daylight hours shifting, although I am looking forward to a day when I can use my duvet again!
How was your weekend? What’s been making you happy lately? Let me know in the comments,
