5 Happy Things #39 | Post Holiday Edition

November 8, 2018

Hey readers! It’s been a week since my last post and what a week it has been! Loads of stuff going on, including an EPIC trip to Prague. I thought I’d come back in my usual way with my 5 Happy Things.

I definitely plan to share my Prague recommendations on my blog (come back next week for more) but for now just a little update. I can’t believe I’ve managed to cram in so much this last week!

#1 – An indulgent Saturday at Simpsons Gin Bar

The weekend before Prague Dr W and I had a lovely weekend together. This included a visit to the lovely Simpsons Gin Bar in Sutton Coldfield. A bit of a trek from Worcester, but totally worth it. We enjoyed trying a range of gins, a favourite of mine in particular was Larios Gin (one I’d never tried before). A Spanish gin that went really well with Mediterranean tonic water. Check back tomorrow and I will be sharing more on our visit to Simpsons.

#2 – A day off with Mummy Pond

I took an extra day off before Prague, and you know what? I’m so glad I did. I needed a lie in, I needed a day to myself and I really cherished the time I spent with Mummy Pond. I treated myself to a new mug from Cat Kidston, as you may well know I’m a bit obsessed with bees and I couldn’t walk away from the mug! We also had a look at the Christmas stuff that’s started to hit the hight street. I’m really looking forward to getting a proper tree this year.

#3 – Burgers at Burger Shop Worcester

Regular readers will know my obsession with Burger Shop. This obsession really hasn’t dissipated. I took Mummy Pond for her first visit to Burger Shop and she was not disappointed. I ordered the Halloween special, which involved an amazing homemade Jerk sauce (FYI they make all their sauces and mayo in house!) and we couldn’t resist the Ham and Cheese Croquettes. My mum now realises why my love of Burger Shop is so strong! Plus the £10 lunch deal is a bargain.

#4 – Prague

If you followed me a long on Instagram Stories you will know that I have just spent a long weekend in Prague. Whilst I feel like I barely scratched the surface of this amazing city, I absolutely loved what we saw. We found metal pubs, incredible cocktails, amazing food, beautiful buildings and just generally loved walking around the city. We’re already planning to revisit as I need to see more! Keep your eyes posted over the next week on my blog because I will be sharing in more detail what we got up to in Prague.

#5 – T2 Christmas preview

And just like that Christmas has started. We got back on Monday and duty free at the airport was sparkly compared to our leaving on Friday. With that it means the start of Christmas events for us bloggers. The first for me was at T2 Tea in the Bullring. I shared my evening on Instagram Stories, that included trying amazing pimped up iced tea and looking at gifts for the tea lovers in your life. I have to admit I’m very interested in getting their tea advent calendar for myself, or some of their tea Christmas tree decorations! But I’m not ready to purchase gifts and things yet, it’s not December and I’m still yet to write my list!

What’s been making you happy lately? Let me know in the comments,

It was such a wonderful holiday – I’m already planning to go again.

So many things to be happy about, the gin bar sounds dreamy! And Prague is one of my favourite European cities, I visited for the Christmas Markets last year and it was the perfect way to get into the festive spirit! Natalie x

I was gutted we’d missed the markets by a week… Maybe next time!

I went to Prague in 1996 for an academic conference – we had an incredible time (and it was v v cheap at that time). It is a stunning city, as you say so much to do. I squeezed as much history, castles and walking in. I am looking forward to reading your write up. I’d love to go again.

It’s still so cheap (although I imagine cheaper back then). We ate out a lot and I still only spent £150!

So busy! I can’t wait for the Christmas preparation to start. Also, Prague looks amazing!

I’m gearing up for Christmas so much now! I can’t wait.

You’ve been so busy. Such a great idea to take a day off before a holiday so you can rest and relax then really enjoy your trip!

It was really lovely to have that day to myself.

I loved Prague when I went for the Christmas markets a couple of years ago. The architecture is so beautiful.
