Getting Ready for Christmas: Our First Christmas in Our New Home

December 21, 2018

Dear readers, what a year it has been eh?! Things are finally calming down and I am getting ready for Christmas. It’s my last day of work for 2 weeks today. I’m looking forward to a break.

This isn’t just any old Christmas though, I’m getting ready for Christmas in our own home. It’s rather exciting because we’re hosting on the big day. Only a small gathering though, there will only be four of us, which I think is a good place to start. Maybe next year I’ll feel able to host more people.

In my excitement for Christmas I went a bit overboard and bought us a 7ft Christmas Tree. We have super high ceilings in our new build and the star even though quite big still has room above it. I think a smaller tree would’ve looked silly. I’ve gone for a silver baubles and cute decorations theme this year. Some I picked up years ago, others like my dinosaur and red robin I bagged in Homesense. We also have our Swiss birdhouse decoration that I bought in Kleine Scheidegg. I really love how the tree looks.

Another way I’ve been getting ready for Christmas is by baking and also stocking up our non-perishable treats. I baked Mince Pie Cookies for a Christmas cookie swap at work. I intend to bake more in the run up to Christmas. We also have some chocolates from Thorntons*, including their Cheeky Elf. Some we will share on Christmas Day, others we’ve wrapped up for friends and family. I’ve also started wrapping, but I have the weekend ahead to do the majority of that.

So how are you getting ready for Christmas? Have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? Let me know in the comments,

MISSPOND X

I am so excited too! It’s also so nice that we can stay put this year, no travelling!

I have a 6ft tree and just love it. I have no particular theme when it comes to baubles as I’ve had some gifted to me by my great grandma which are really old and don’t really fit with anything much x

They sound lovely. My baubles were gifted to me from my mum, it’s nice to keep things in the family.
