Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Cookies | Harry Potter Recipe

April 11, 2018

I spent ages agonising over a Harry Potter themed bake for a friend’s birthday. In the end I went with something simpler than I had originally planned, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Cookies.

We were heading out for birthday adventures, so Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Cookies were the snacks for the day. I used a recipe from my good blogger friend Mike at the Bearded Bakery as a basis for these. I love to adapt recipes and usually scribble my ideas down in a notebook, my latest in my collection of many being this Harry Potter lenticular one*.

Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean Cookies

Soft, chewy cookies, perfect for Harry Potter fans.

  • 100 g Caster sugar
  • 100 g Unsalted butter soft at room temp
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 150 g Plain flour seived
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 175 g Jelly beans

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and the sugar in your mixer (I used my trusty Kmix) until light and fluffy (this can take several minutes).
  3. Mix in the honey and beat again.
  4. Mix in half of the flour with the jelly beans. Once this has combined mix in the rest of the flour and the baking powder.
  5. Keep on mixing until the dough starts to form a ball in the mixer. When very dough like turn out onto a floured surface and working with your hands.
  6. Separate the dough out into 12 sizeable balls. Don’t press them down and place on a baking tray (I baked two batches of 6).
  7. Place in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on the tray for a few minutes, before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Serve with steaming hot cups of tea.

Recipe Notes

Adapted from Mike at The Bearded Bakery

These cookies were seriously good. Mike’s recipe never fails to work and impress! I suggest serving with steaming hot cups of tea and if you can, whilst the cookies are still warm. So would you give my Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Cookies a go? Let me know in the comments,

Love the idea of these! I would be so tempted to use actual every flavour beans, that could make for some interesting reactions over a brew that’s for sure!

      That could be quite fun!

So, when I first read the header, I totally thought you were going to make cookies with the actually gross flavour jellybeans. Glad to find out they’re not…. but wouldn’t the yucky cookies make a disgustingly fantastic April fools joke?!

Oh god no! Just the nice flavours 🙂

These cookies look really tasty. I like that they are super easy to make too. My son would love them

Fun idea but would never try it with Bertie botts! Too much risk of a gross flavoured bean!

Definitely not – definitely a recipe for the nice flavours.

Oh these look amazing! I make choc chip cookies but would never think to put jelly beans in! Will have to give them a whirl – maybe with a Harry Potter DVD marathon too!

That would be the perfect afternoon activity 🙂
