The Breakfast Burger | National Burger Day Ideas with Clonakilty

August 24, 2018

Ok so this post is a day late, but you know what, burgers aren’t just for one day of the year! Yes it was National Burger Day yesterday, but it’s Friday today. Fridays are good days for burgers, especially my Breakfast Burger.

For National Burger Day this year I teamed with Clonakilty to celebrate in style with Dr W. Given that I am already quite a huge fan of their black pudding (see my massively popular Black Pudding Pasta Recipe for why) so I had to make a burger that featured it. Hence the creation of the Breakfast Burger, that features both their black pudding and their sausages.

Today’s Breakfast Burger inspiration not only came from the ingredients supplied by Clonakilty, but also our current re-watching of Scrubs. For those who love Scrubs it’s all on Amazon Prime, I forgot how many episodes there are of it! Anyway… JD and Turk love Brinner a.k.a Breakfast for Dinner. I thought a Breakfast Burger with sausage, egg and black pudding would be perfect. To be honest it’s quite easy to put together. However, I would recommend following my tips for cooking burgers that feature here and I’d always recommend a Brioche Bun when burger making.

What did you do for National Burger Day? Would you give my Breakfast Burger a go? Let me know in the comments,

P.S. Post in collaboration with Clonakilty. As ever all words, photos and opinions are my own.

Um, WOW. This looks super delicious and like the perfect thing to feast up on with a hangover ;-). I have to agree, burgers should not just be celebrated on one day … but every day! Lovely photography too – if only I could download it!

I’ll just send a pic over to my husband so he can do his magic. Hopefully it’ll look like this when he’s done haha

It looks amazing! I’ve never tried black pudding on a burger so now clearly I need to! x

Oh my you really need too! It especially worked with the gooey egg yolk!

I love creative burgers! Plain ones are great, but a fun quirky burger is always very welcome in my book. Whenever I think of black pudding, it reminds me of my dad. He’d have it on a Sunday for a special treat, so the smell of it always takes me back to childhood weekends.

Quirky burgers are just a bit more fun and sometimes you need it don’t you?! 🙂
