Easy Peasy Meals with Everdine | Review

March 22, 2018

When Everdine contacted me to try out their range of healthy ready meals, I will admit I was sceptical. But they promised tasty food, the use of sustainable produce and most of all I wouldn’t have to do any of the hard graft.

Everdine pride themselves on their ethos. They’re also convenient because you can pop in the oven or microwave dependent on what’s available to you. In your box you can pick 4 or 6 meals and they are delivered straight to your door. You don’t have to worry about not being in because the packaging is very good – mine were still frozen despite spending the best part of the day on the doorstep. Just pop them in the freezer when you do get in.

For my box I picked the Smoky Fajitas, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Coconut Katsu Chicken and Mushroom Carbonara. Now I don’t usually jump to ready meals but it was convenient one Friday when I was feeling lazy to crack a couple of these out for Dr W and I.

I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, sadly not very spicy at all! But I was super impressed by the pineapple rice (yum) – something I will be trying to recreate. Also the meals we tried cooked fine in the oven (we are microwave less!) Dr W had the Coconut Katsu Chicken, this had a bit more spice to it. He was seriously impressed and was full up by the end too. This is good – sometimes ready meals don’t fill the gap for him and he reaches for a snack! Since our Friday of laziness I’ve had the Mushroom Carbonara, sadly not my favourite. I actually think oven cooking was better, the microwave made the meal dry out a little. I’m still yet to try the Smoky Fajitas.

Overall, there were a couple of hits and a couple of misses. I’m not overly convinced on the expense of Everdine (approx £35 per 6 meals), whilst the food is of good standard and you can tell fresh ingredients went in, I enjoy cooking too much. If I started to rely on these I’d miss cooking. I can understand those that would use this system though and if we have any seriously busy periods with work (also we have our move coming up) I think I’d order as a one off. If you fancy giving Everdine a try, enter INEMMAPOND at the checkout for £5 off your first order + free shipping (not an affiliate link).

P.S. I received 4 meals from Everdine to try out for free. As ever all words, photos and opinions are my own.

I’ve not heard of Everdine before but I can imagine it is really good for a busy single or couple who rush home form work and want something quick but wholesome to eat. Mich x

I think it is definitely designed for that! 🙂

Oh these actually look really good! Definitely something that I would eat. I do agree though the price is a little expensive, thats almost as much as a spend on a weekly shop for a family of four :/

It is definitely on the pricey side, but I think as a one off during a crazy time it would be worth it – cheaper than take away!

Wow they’re pricey! I definitely think there’s a gap in the market though for quality, semi-healthy ready meals. I too often have the odd day of laziness where it just seems so much easier to bang something in the oven then serve 🙂

I think as a one off they’re pretty good – cheaper than a takeaway and definitely healthier!

These look quite tasty! I’m actually looking for some healthy but interesting ready meals to have on hand, right now we’re so busy we don’t eat til gone 9pm and it’s quite often quicker unhealthy things. Something I can just throw in the oven would be perfect!

I think they would definitely be a good option to look in to for your study periods! I hope everything is going well x

Thanks for including pics. They do look nicer than say a ready meal from Tescos! But £35 for 6 is pretty steep…. I guess they’re aimed at professionals who work lots and get home late. Like you say, as a one off during a busy period, I could see myself ordering them.

I always include pics 🙂 They’re definitely aimed at that and as a one off they’re definitely cheaper and healthier than take aways!
