Foodie Finds #6 | August Round Up

August 30, 2017

As ever I’ve been a busy bee this month. I’ve been checking out new products, finding new places to eat and just generally making some good Foodie Finds!

This month has been a real mix of Foodie Finds. Let’s see what I’ve been checking out in August…

Foodie Finds - Gerties Cafe Walkley Sheffield

#1 – Gerties Cafe, Walkley, Sheffield

I recently headed up to Sheffield with Mercure Hotels (more on that trip later this week). Whilst I was there I met up with some good friends of mine and we hit up their local cafe for a hangover breakfast. This was the full veggie and was much needed after discovering the best gin bar I have EVER been too.

Foodie Finds - Dough It Youself

Foodie Finds - Pizza Making Kit

#2 – Dough It Yourself Pizza Kits

Dr W and I were sent some fun home pizza kits from Dough It Yourself. We gave their normal and wholewheat bases ago, both really enjoying the wholewheat version. It was good fun to pick our own toppings and make them ourselves. We did a ham and mushroom pizza as well as a pepper and hot salami pizza (we both like a bit of heat!) The kits are simple to use and really quick cooking, the perfect easy midweek dinner.

Foodie Finds - Haymans Gin

#3 – Hayman’s Gin

I recently made some cocktails with my new favourite gin, Hayman’s Gin. It’s such an honest gin, and simple in a good way. An absolute classic for gin and tonics. Hayman’s Gin is made with an old family recipe, in a traditional way. It really is worth investing in a bottle, they’re now available at Waitrose. I can also vouch for the Hayman’s Sloe Gin – super tasty!

Foodie Finds - Encona Sauces

#4 – Encona Sauces

It’s no secret that Dr W and I like spicy food. Often making dinners we have to fight with. To further spice things up, Encona sent us some sauces. We loved the Hot Pepper and Carolina Reaper in our Jerk Chicken Wraps. We’re going to give the African Piri Piri Sauce a go later this week.

Foodie Finds - My Healthy Kitchen

#5 – My Healthy Kitchen Meals

My Healthy Kitchen know I’m a busy bee with work at the moment. So they sent me a bunch of their amazing healthy ready meals to try. With veggie, gluten free and dairy free options there’s a meal for everyone. I really enjoyed the Prawn Katsu, it had a wonderful spice to it. I love that they’re simple to reheat, balanced and filling. I didn’t go reaching for that afternoon chocolate bar!

So have you tried any of my Foodie Finds? What have you discovered lately that I should check out? Let me know in the comments,

I have to say the ‘dough’ pun made me chuckle – I hope they start stocking them near us soon – we tend to use own brand pizza stuff and they just aren’t that good!

As far as I’m aware they’re stocked in Ocado and in lots of independent shops across the north. Check out their website!

Encona sauces are amazing! They’ve got pride of place next to the Sriracha in my kitchen. I’ve never seen that Carolina Reaper one though – going to have to keep my eyes out for it now!

Those pizza bases sound absolutely delicious, I’m craving one right now!

    • Reply MissPond September 1, 2017 at 10:02 am

They’re so tasty – one of ours we didn’t use tomato on. I used mascarpone and pesto instead. Was super nice (I remember your tomato allergy!)
